The Lossless Music Exchange

Anonymous asked: Hey Joe. First things first--you are all kinds of awesome for taking the time to put all this together. I've recently made the switch to lossless audio and this is exactly what I was looking for. Now, I support artists whenever possible (i.e., actually BUY music), but sometimes I just can't find something. You've got skills at finding rare albums; but I defy you to find a FLAC version of the Punches remix of Au Revoir Simone's "Only You Can Make Me Happy". I would pay top dollar for it.

Doesn’t exist. PUNCHES only released the song on their SoundCloud. You can download it here in mp3 format though:

Mr. Bungle - Disco Volante
I don’t know how to explain this album - it’s that weird and bizarre - but everyone should listen to this at least once. This is the first band Mike Patton of Fantomas, Faith No More, Mondo Cane, etc was in and it just proves that he’s been insane since day one. Don’t believe me? Download this album then

Wolves in the Throne Room - Two Hunters
Eco-friendly ambient black metal from the States. I’m not joking about the eco-friendly part either. These guys are known to have shows in the middle of the woods around a bonfire and live off the land. Unlike other black metal acts that surround themselves with “Satanic” imagery and all that nonsense, WitTR have a concrete vision for what they’re trying to portray and they do a hell of good job portraying it.
Without further ado, here’s Wolves in the Throne Room’s Two Hunters, some of the sickest black metal to ever come out of the United States.

I’ve been swamped

College is brutal, Jesus Christ. I’ve uploaded tons of albums, I just haven’t had time to write little blurbs for each of them.

There will be some albums posted on Thursday. Word?

Now this is what I like to see! Welcome new peeps :)

Converge - Jane Doe

Words cannot express how amazing this album is so I won’t attempt to. Here’s 12 songs about severe heartbreak, betrayal, loneliness, bitterness, and resentment. Here’s Converge’s Jane Doe.
You either love or hate Converge. You’ll probably start off by hating them but one day, it’ll click and you won’t be able to get enough of them.

Tracklisting
Concubine
Fault and Fracture
Distance and Meaning
Hell To Pay
Homewrecker
The Broken Vow
Bitter and then some

Circle Takes the Square - As the Roots Undo

Even if you don’t like real screamo (skramz or whatever the fucking genre term is), you need to listen to Circle Takes the Square’s As The Roots Undo. It’s a classic (still as fresh as it was when it came out in 2004) and will probably be regarded as a milestone for the genre. Extremely cacophonous, dissonant, beautiful, and intense all at the same time, nothing gets much better than this.
Now, we wait patiently for Ritual of Names, their follow-up to As the Roots Undo slated to come out this year….over 6 years after As the Roots Undo came out.

Tracklisting
Intro
Same Shade as Concrete
Crowquill
In the Nervous Light of Sunday
Interview at the Ruins
Non-Objective Portrait of Karma
Kill the Switch
A Crater to Cough in

Mastodon - Crack the Skye
Let me start by saying that Mastodon changed my life when they came out with Leviathan back in 2004. I had never heard anything like it and nothing’s ever topped it till Mastodon released Crack the Skye in 2009. Now, mind you, 2009 was an AMAZING year for metal but nothing comes close to Crack the Skye. Hell, I don’t think anything will ever come close to Crack the Skye for me.
It’s incredibly progressive and psychedelic while still maintaining the sludge roots that made Mastodon so famous. Best album of 2009, hands down

Tracklisting
Oblivion
Divinations
Quintessence
The Czar
Ghost of Karelia
Crack the Skye
The Last Baron
